About the Therapist

Dana E. Oliver, MBA, MS, LCSW

Dana E. Oliver is a NJ Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a NJ Certified School Social Worker.  She holds an MS in Social Work from Columbia University, an MBA from Rutgers University, and a BA in Psychology with highest honors from Rutgers University. Ms. Oliver is a lifetime member of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology. Ms. Oliver completed internships at Millburn Middle School, Summit Oaks Hospital, and Jersey Battered Women's Service. Ms. Oliver has post-graduate training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.


Ms. Oliver specializes in mood and anxiety disorders, major life and health events, trauma, adoption issues, relationship issues, women's issues, family life cycle changes, ADHD, low self-esteem, family conflicts, grief, behavior management, and stress management.  


Before starting Positive Psychotherapy, LLC, Ms. Oliver provided therapeutic services at Carrier Clinic and Summit Oaks Hospital. Her experience includes work with Adults, Children, Couples, and Families on the inpatient units as well as in the outpatient programs. In addition to her private practice Ms. Oliver continues to provide remote, CBT oriented therapy to clients of a national tele-health agency. 


Ms. Oliver is an active member of several professional organizations including the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), NJ Society of Clinical Social Workers (NJSCSW), NJ Association of Women Therapists (NJAWT), and NJ Association of Cognitive Behavioral Therapists (NJ-ACT). She is also the Treasurer-Elect and will serve on the Board of Directors for NJAWT for the 2016 - 2018 term.


When not working with her clients Ms. Oliver enjoys: spending time with her family and friends, running, playing guitar, meditating, listening to live music, dancing, hiking, knitting, reading, and walking her dog.
